Sundari the prettiest of all women in town rakhanganj near gujrat had this special ring.It could be owned by just one person.let me tell you a little about rakahnganj-it was surrounded by little sand dunes some cactus(that were the source of water) and endless wonders. being a barren land no one discovered it and it still is wondrous!
sundari's being the prettiest had everything that god could could gie her with birth i.e. power, figure, strength, fortune, faith, hope etc.But her house was at the edge of the village......a strong tin roof with even stronger cemented base.It made a one room enough to keep herself. It was life's irony that she had everyone in her relations yet they weren't beside her. They met like strangers and departed as even the water sources were seperate. Then why did Sundari have the special ring?
THE RING-it was a custom to give every 'bahu' the traditional ring which passed from generation to generation!
Sundari was married to Debsingh Rathor the then son of wealthiest man. They beleived that this ring had the power to destroy and create. It chose the lady all by itself.. If a generation follows you the ring has chosen you otherwise it has rejected you.Unfortunately for Sundari the ring rejected her husband form his life. Those mournfully mornings still fill the air with shock and her ill health gives way to tremor. Those horrrible abuses and those blames.....she was happier here atlest she had her own loneliness which never complained. She was deserted in the desserts of life yet she lived on......is this not special about the ring.
Even today the sun cracks though the dessert sands and brings heat again at night the winds give shivering bones. And yet the little special ring is burried somewhere in those sands where Sundari lives on in the memory of the sands. We humans can eb so wise that we give a ring the power to decide someone's destiny!aren't we puppets of superstition?
