Eyes on you movie review-2 States

There are those few films I watch on the release day with some most interactive audience. This film does all that other Chetan Bhagat films couldn't. Yes, from the beginning with the shrink's office to end they meticulously follow the script as given, 'No messing'. I sat back knowing the plot and cheered with the high moments. Apart from a few miss moments (that could add fun to the movie too) they have done it all.

Plot:
Read the book and watch the movie. You will enjoy how the director has not been messy with the plot. Even punch lines have been taken from the book, making it interesting as ever. Trust me, Chetan Bhagat punch lines are better than bollywood. There could be little more studying in IIM-A and less of holi but that's permissible. Family watch- soberly edited all that could be trouble some in a Chetan Bhagat book in India.

Acting:
Kudos to Alia Bhatt[as Ananya Swaminathan]- hot, vibrant and yet sober. Has shown all shades of expression much beyond expression( +ive i.e.). I'm more her fan now. I did find her a little lost when Krish talks about his wanting to be an author and what he would write.
Arjun Kapoor[as Krish]- I could murder him anytime! I am neither his family fan nor his skill fan. He suited the look of the role 90% , yes. However his spirit was low, change in expression dead and frankly I would not go from Chennai to Delhi for him!
Amrita Singh[as Krish's mom]- Best suited the role. Loud as a Punjabi yet tender as a mother. She embraces punch lines and makes it double effective.
Ronit Roy[as Krish's dad]- Now he did do a good job inspite of having the same role for which we hate him(The Udaan drunker) only he has just one wife here. He beats it at the soul awakening scene when Krish slaps him for manhandling his wife. Brother, he seemed guilty!
Revathy[as Ananya's mom]- She was the other person of whom the director could have spelled more. Her hatred and emotional turmoil is less proclaimed. It is a striking battle between Amrita's skill and hers. It is okay to be less loud but then the expressions have to do justice. She did reverberate excellence while singing in the BANK's ceremony. They have cut short a lot of drama thankfully.
Shiv Kumar Subhramaniam[Ananya's father]- His role is not generous enough yet he does a moderate job.

Music:
It's so much on the net, you know it all. 'Mast magan' hits the chord strongest while 'Locha-e-ulfat' and 'offo' are more peppy. Each of them sync in with the film and choreography is seamless but beautifully done.

Message:
This is my win win for the whole film. While I see reviews criticizing it, I have a different opinion. Watching a 2 and 1/2 hr movie without moving my neck was the giveaway point. It had colours, nice dance, full on masti, some good everything yet it ended with the best part. The message of why this book came into existence. When I look at you, I really don't know your religion, caste, creed and we interact all over the place. We cannot today stick to something like culture for bars then we need tags on our heads so we fall in love with just our culture. It's more over pointless in pin pointing 'KHAAP' , the point remains the same. India today has grown and we must grow with it. Instead of taking the revolting attitude the film takes a diplomatic way- they try to put together the reasons why parents behave this way. It comforts both the parents and youngsters, making the message more powerful.

Misses:
Few moments I missed in the film-
1.Krish's shaadi time instrument check and mickey mouse shots
2.Krish's Interview cracking
3.Dolly's coffee with Krish
4.A more dhamakedar self esteem puncture for Duke(taking dowry)
5. A boggling chemistry- with Arjun Kapoor half dead I can sympathize with Alia.

    1. Absolutely Neha.
Arjun was not convincing. Alia was good indeed.
I am just a rigid reader and I don't like directors messing with the plot like in '3 Mistakes of my Life' made movie version.
Kudos too for not messing with plot :)
